As mentioned in the Portion Control section of my book, allow yourself to indulge in your favorite foods. A balanced approach to eating is not one that cuts out everything you love in the not-so-nutritious category. The key is moderation. If you are eating a healthful, balanced diet the majority of the time, the extra calories from those foods you are indulging in are much less likely to lead to weight gain and the missing nutrients aren’t a problem because overall, you are getting what you need from the rest of your diet.
