Hey, I’m Mel! 

I initially developed LIVE.EAT.TRAIN in an effort to help others navigate the complex world of food. The website was intended to be a space where I could share the nutrition knowledge I gained through years of study and practice in hopes of helping others build a healthier relationship with food—something I worked hard to accomplish and attributed much of my happiness to for a number of years.

Fast forward to now and my perspective of happiness and its source has greatly evolved. I’ve come to believe our pursuit of happiness is rooted in our innate desire for growth. It’s the feeling we label happiness that keeps us striving for continuous improvement and its fleeting nature keeps us on this path; the path of evolution.

This premise, of happiness being rooted in growth, is the new foundation of my work. So far, my musings on this topic have helped me uncover the approach I believe is responsible for much of the growth and happiness I’ve experienced over the years. The approach is this:

  • Explore the world with an open mind
  • Apply an informed approach to life
  • Transform your approach to meet your evolving needs

It seems fitting the approach’s acronym spells eat as it was my journey to building a healthier relationship with food that prompted its discovery. The word eat has taken on a whole new meaning for me; it now describes a simple approach to life that can be applied flexibly to achieve your desired outcomes.

Moving forward, I plan to transform LIVE.EAT.TRAIN into a space where I share my journey of personal growth. The content will still largely revolve around the topic of food as it has been, and continues to be, the impetus for much of my growth. However, the intent behind my creative efforts will be less about sharing for the purpose of educating as it will be about inspiring. My hope is that by sharing my experiences, I can inspire myself and others to continually apply the EAT approach as we work towards a fulfilled and happy life.
