Blog articles
LIVE.EAT.TRAIN is my creative space; a place where I record my thoughts and share with you what I learn as I continue to explore new ideas and perspectives. Search the blog content for information on a variety of topics, such as nutrition and lifestyle. Much of the content will revolve around food, as it’s both my passion and profession (learn more about me here).
In the lifestyle section, you’ll find two series: EAT with Mel and TRAIN with Mel. I created both of these series as a sort of framework that makes it impossible for me not to put in the work of two things I believe are worth doing with intention: eating and training.
EAT with Mel is my monthly meal plan, which features a diversity of plant-based foods and seasonal ingredients (the way I intend to eat). TRAIN with Mel is my training diary, which chronicles my effort to build a strong and resilient mind and body (the way I intend to train).
Recipes
As a food enthusiast, I’m constantly trying new recipes and tweaking them to my liking. Here you’ll find all of my favorite recipes; some original, some borrowed. Part of my goal is to help people build healthy eating habits, so I’ll do my best to offer a variety of recipes that nourish the body and are easily made to perfection.
Newsletter
If I were to choose one word to describe the purpose of my work, it would be Nourishment. The definition of this word is: to provide the food or other substances necessary for growth, health, and good condition. Looking back, it seems it has been my life’s work to understand how to best nourish the human body. I still have much to learn about this topic, but I’m compelled to share what continues to bring the most nourishment to my life.
This newsletter, for which I’ve chosen the title Nourish, features ideas and resources that have fueled my journey of personal growth. My hope is that the content will also bring some form of nourishment to your life.
In its current form, Nourish is a monthly digest of tasty recipes, interesting ideas, and personal reflections. This will likely evolve, as all creative projects do. For now, you can expect to find a variety of content that falls into two categories: Recipes Worth Making & Ideas Worth Considering.
Each month, I’ll share some of my favorite recipes (those I believe are “worth making”). I’ll also publish interesting ideas (those I believe are “worth considering”) and the thoughts that came to mind as I pondered their deeper meaning. You can find all of the newsletter content here.

Book
For anyone who considers food to be a source of stress, this book is for you.
If you continually find yourself feeling guilt about your food choices, overwhelmed about which diet to follow, anxious about your ability to maintain self-control the next time you encounter food, or sadness as you watch others enjoy the foods you’ve forbidden yourself to eat, this book has something for you.
After many hours spent studying nutrition and practicing the art of healthful eating, I have improved my relationship with food and adopted an approach to eating that keeps my body healthy and my mind happy. This book is dedicated to sharing the ideas that were instrumental in helping me find an approach to eating that continually promotes my wellbeing. My hope is this information will guide your efforts in finding an approach to eating that helps you achieve better health, greater happiness, and all other outcomes you so desire.

I consider this book my Master’s thesis. It represents the culmination of my academic learning and research. Years later, I stand behind the majority of the content presented in this book. However, as I’ve continued to expand my knowledge surrounding nutrition for individual and planetary health, my recommended dietary approach has evolved to include more plants and fewer animal foods.
Instead of updating the original copy of this book with my newfound knowledge and releasing a second edition, I’ve decided to upload the new version directly to my website (see Nutrition 101) and give the content away for free. I truly believe in the value of this information and its ability to create positive change. As such, I want to make the content accessible to anyone who stumbles upon it and is willing to give it a read, no price tag attached.
That said, this book was a labor of love. I spent thousands of hours and hundreds of dollars creating this work of art. If you’d like to support my work, you can make a small contribution by purchasing an original copy of my book. Find it here.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out. I’m always looking for new content ideas that are relevant to my readers!
